Allrounder? Gravelbike? Dirtdrop MTB? Monstercross? With these tires and this geometry its hard to classify. The Thunder Burt 27.5x2.1 in front and MSO X’plor 650x50 in back both measure around 52mm wide in reality on the Knight rims (25mm inner width). You can run 22psi to smooth out the rough stuff and have it not feel too low. I don’t care too much how fast I go on pavement as I’m always trying to jump off the roads and see where this and that goes. It’s funny to think that we raced MTB’s on 26x1.9-2.0’s in the 90’s pumped up to 50psi with tubes... makes my body hurt just thinking about it.

Titanium 29+ almost done, final welding is the funnest part, I can’t say I look forward to the finish work. Luna says hi BTW.

This here is my first frame and fork built 9 years ago today. Now it’s my singlespeed townie built with parts I had stashed in the shop and wasn’t using. I did buy the half-link chain though. Cable BB7’s pulled by Paul’s Love Levers, the “wheel check” wheels for checking tire clearance on new 29er frames but since they’re QR they’ve been unused for awhile now, XT M785 cranks set up 1x with Discos and a Rohloff chainguide to prevent pant legs from snagging, tires have never been ridden till this year but are at least 7 years old. The frame has sat in the rafters and what better time to renew the old than in the quarantine? The welds are crap, undercut in spots and cold in other spots but they are fine. The brazing seems fine and the Pumpkin Orange rattlecan paint silver stenciled “decals” does the job. No rack mounts so added the Moots Tailgator rack I’ve had forever and an Outershell bag on front to carry stuff. Feels like going for a ride with an old friend.

Steve’s allrounder now looking even better with a matching framebag! Made to fit by East Sierra Bagworks (I totally made that name up, his sweetie made the bag in house but it looks so pro!) it wraps around the water bottles and supports a frame pump.

Hope everyone out there is doing well in this surreal time. Ordered to stay at home, the news reads like a movie, feels impossible that they wouldn’t be surprised if 100k people died... collectively viruses will (do?) rule the world. In the current state of social isolation (which is pretty normal for me) I built up a singlespeed using my first frame and fork from 10 years ago. The goal was to avoid buying anything and use parts already in the shop. Today I rode into town on the moto-built trails along the railroad tracks lined with a lot of poppys and green grass that will soon be unpassable starthistle, goatheads, and foxtails. Stay safe all
